News & Thank You                    Newsletters
Some time ago we started to produce an irregular newsletter for those who have an interest in our ongoing work, we are now making them available for download here.
Stansted Fun Run.

We would like to thank the committee and participants of the Fun Run for the generous donation of £1450-00 which has gone to our child sponsorship to help cover the cost of several children over the next few years. Also many thanks are due to  Laurence Ryan who completed the run on our behalf and raised a very creditable £160-00 also for the child sponsorship, very well done Laurence! It was very hot and not a great day for a run, but he managed magnificently.

Mosquito Net Appeal for Zambia.

At the start of December the Trust agreed to co-ordinate a one off appeal to raise money for mosquito nets  on behalf of a Martial Arts Club in Kitwe, Zambia. If this seems outside our normal remit please read the following:

Yesterday afternoon I was teaching the new students in the beginners class, Ukemi- waza (break falling techniques) and Nage -waza (basic throwing techniques). I was truly amazed to see how natural they quickly pick up and learn the techniques .I then saw one them, about 8 years old sitting down on the mat in the corner. I was told he had malaria and could not continue with the practice. He was waiting his turn to tell me if he could get permission to go home. This meant walking another 8 kilometres before he could reach his house . After this I stopped the class and asked all of the students who were there how many were able to sleep under mosquito nets. Out of the class of 24 only 4 had mosquito nets. The rest told me that they could hardly sleep at nights because of all the mosquito biting them. All of them were getting malaria nearly every month.

This is just one of the many challenges the Kodokwan judo jujitsu club of Kitwe, Zambia has to face every day in helping the under privileged youth here in Kitwe. But I do believe we are a Light House in our club to those in need ,and miracles do happen here in our dojo just look at the story of JOSHUA KANYEMBA and the dojo God helped us build. I would like to share a quote from a card, Fr Jude Mckenna,7th Dan in judo our mentor and spiritual guide, gave our family a while back .

If not us, who? If not here, where? If not now, when? If not for the Kingdom, why?

DARE THE DREAM!. You can learn more about the (Kodokwan Judo Jujitsu Club of Zambia) on our facebook group.

The quote above comes from a newsletter sent to one of our Trustees who is a Martial Arts Instructor who started his Martial Arts "career" in Zambia under Father Jude. The Trustees felt that we should be able to help in a small way and so we agreed to organise an appeal to try and raise £1000-00 which would help the club supply nets to it's members who come from amongst the most deprived children in the town of Kitwe.

If you would like to donate to this very worthwhile cause then please send cheques to The Assin Endwa Trust, 184 Maldon Road, Great Baddow, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 7DG. December 9th - Our clinic finally has running water!!!!!!

On December the 9th the clinic water tower was finally connected to the clinic so at long last  there is running water within the building.  Our volunteers for 2010 managed to get the water from the newly drilled  borehole to the water tower and installed a stand pipe, after which the Ghana Trust managed the connection to the already plumbed but dry clinic.

We would like to express our appreciation to STAR 4 AFRICA who were the main sponsors of the borehole and our group of hardworking volunteers who  financed and built the link between the borehole and the water tower.

THANK YOU ALL.
